Backplane connectors are electronic equipment embedded to integrate and hold together numerous printed circuit boards within computer or communication systems. To make a computer bus transceiver efficient, it is crucial to connect each pin on all types of backplane accessories to the dedicated pins that are already allocated. A secure connection among different components and printed circuit boards is possible with the help of backplane accessories. The backplane has evolved year by year and brought revolutionary features into existence.

What are backplane contacts used for?

Backplane contacts are embedded in printed circuit boards so that the digital system does work as expected. Wire-wrapped connectors are primarily embedded in micro communicating devices, high potential, and reliability applications in the manufacturing industry today. Backplane accessories are typically used on heavy components that carry out the function perfectly and for safety purposes, such as video cards and many other peripheral devices meant to ensure that the system is safe, robust, and fault-tolerant toward printed circuit boards.

Types of backplane contacts 

Backplane contact are primarily classified into three main types:

  • Butterfly plane connectors are embedded in boards consisting of switchless designs that help with data efficiency, security, and overall system cost-effectiveness.
  • Active backplane contacts are popular for use on a standard board that comes with bus control and motherboard circuitry systems and has an easy installation process for components.
  • Passive backplane connectors are ubiquitous in standard boards that contain drivers and buses that are radically designed for data transmission and an interface for an operating system.

What is backplane speed?

The backplane contact data transmission rate of the switch refers to the maximum amount of data that can be transmitted among different communication systems with the help of the switch interface processor bus and card interface. The backplane accessories bandwidth marks the overall data throughput capacity of the switch, and the exchange bandwidth is commonly called Gbps.
